Website Design Process
Website Planning

For each stage in the design process we'll use an example of a Parachuting Cats business.

Planning a website starts with the focus or aim of your site and with questions like who is your target audience and how would you like the look and feel of your web site?

First we'd suggest available domain names - perhaps paracats.co.uk, catchute.org or FlyCatFly.com.

We'd ask questions like 'Do you just cater for cats, or are other pets welcome? What is the aim of your site? Do you offer other cat sports?

When you commission us to create a web site, we first discuss with you the aim of your website (e.g. providing information, selling a product or range of products, etc.). We will ask a series of questions and keep the answers in mind throughout the design process. Questions like:

  • What is the focus of your business?
  • Who is your target audience?
  • What search terms might they use?
  • What colour scheme would you like?
  • Where would you like the navigation bar?
  • Do you want buttons, text links or images to link pages on your site?
  • If you can provide images or would like us to design illustrations or a logo for you.
  • How many pages you would like the site to have.

Quality content is just as important as search engine placement, as with a poor website anyone finding it will quickly click off it. That is why we will ensure that text and images quickly hooks the reader's attention, are interesting and informative and that the website is attractively presented and easy to navigate. Please see sample websites for a range of our work.

If you already have an existing website then the process is similar, except that we will discuss which parts of the website you would like to keep, which you want to change and which need changing in order to allow search engines to find it. If search engines can find it and rank it highly, your clients will also be able to find it.
